"wolf among scrubs" is a translation of the botanical term for hops. according to the russian river brewery , Pliny the Elder is credited with this naming of hops. this blog is a place to post pictures, reviews , and blatherings of your experience with Pliny the Elder, Pliny the Younger, Blind Pig, Psuedo, or any other intensely Hopped IPA. email me your pics and stories...surfapig@live.com
sculpin has earned a spot on this blog. when there is no pseudo, pliny, or blind pig... i'd hit a sculpin before i'd hit a racer 5.

pliny at home. nothing better.
pseudo at pizza port on sunday. religion. arrogant bastard at 10:30 a.m. normally these are too malty for my pallet. however, this morning it was just perfect. smooth and refined!
another perspective. pliny on the left , pseudo on the right. blind pig, pliny, then pseudo. from left to right. bind pig, pliny, then pseudo.
the consensus follows: all of these ales fucking shred. i am not sure i can use words to adequately describe the subtle nuances that distinguish one from the other. i walked out with 2 growlers of pseudo. sharp finishes. life is good.
drank this friday night at selma's. it has more of a malt finish than i am looking for. however, where there is no pliny , pseudo, bling pig or racer 5... a green flash will do.
"pseudo" won the gold medal at last year's big craft beer event. i am not really sure why noah (the brewer) named it pseudo. i have my suspicions though. i suspect it has something to do with pliny. this beer is ...dare i say it... as good...if not better than pliny.
